We, as team Sparx from Rochester Institute of Technology, have just come back from an exciting trip in Los Angeles, where the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2008 Software Design U.S. National Final took place. And guess what, we've won the American Final, $12,000 grand prize and will be representing U.S. in the World Final in this upcoming July in Paris, France!
Our winning entry, Reactivity, is a sensor network built for office buildings and homes . Reactivity tries realize office automation and home automation in an effort to minimize energy waste, monitor indoor pollutions, and improve everyday interactions with environment. Reactivity provides a powerful platform for both gathering information from a great variety of sensors and controlling many different devices. Using this platform, end-users are also able to program the behavior of our sensor network in a way that is best suited for their environments. Our demo in Los Angeles showed live data gathering from a wireless demo device with luminosity, humidity and temperature sensors, and some programmed reactions like the controlling of an 110V AC socket based on the luminosity data gathered by the light sensor. You could find out more information about our product in the Wiki.
From now on, we will be trying our best to prepare for the World Final in July. Reactivity would be even better and more powerful by then. Please be sure to hold on for a ride into the future!
